A day at DPS
If driving please arrange to drop your children off in Essex Street and walk through Douglas Park, or on Pownall Street and let children walk the last short distance to school.
The day starts at 8.45am with Jump Jam and moves quickly into learning.
Between 9am and 11am classes focus on Literacy. This includes reading, writing, handwriting, phonics, oral language and more. Children get a short Brainfood break during this time to recharge and energise themselves.
Morning tea is from 11am to 11.25am.
For the hour between morning tea and lunch, Numeracy is the focus across the school.
Lunch is 12.30pm to 1.25pm. The first 15 minutes of this is spent seated and eating. This ensures all children are given the necessary time to eat before playing with friends.
Children are back in class at 1.25pm for the afternoon session.
The school day comes to an end at 3pm.

Important Information
Arrive a little earlier – Children need to be at school at a reasonable time before 8.45pm to get settled, complete tasks and get their heads in the learning space.
Arriving Late – On the odd occasion when it is not possible for the children to be at school by 8.45am they will need to go straight to the school office to get a late pass.
Leaving Early – If children need to leave school before 3pm they must be signed out by a parent or caregiver at the school office.
