Douglas Park School an Enviroschool

Douglas Park School is a facilitated Enviroschool. As an Enviroschool we arecommitted to actively involving our whole school community inestablishing and maintaining environmental practices, that promote thelong term sustainability of our school and global environment.

Our school is dedicated to reaching and maintaining a Green GoldEnviroschool Award status in all four key areas: Physical Surroundings,Living Curriculum, Organisational Management and Operational Practicesas part of our New Zealand Enviroschool Programme. We currently have a Silver Award.

Special Highlights for 2007 at DPS...
  1. Our Envirogroup has been working with Graham Huffer at his Forth StreetReserve Restoration Project. Our Envirogroup enjoyed our Big Day Outplanting trees along the stream.
  2. Our first year with EnviroOptions! Our Junior and Senior Options included numerous gardenprojects, hanging baskets, designing and filming Enviro Advertisements,researching Takahe Conservation and designing 3D Takahe and paintingPRIDE murals for our school garden.
  3. Creating our second VisionMap called "Our Dream, Our Vision 2007" which will include all ourprogress and ideas from our parents, Board of Trustees, staff andchildren at DPS.
