PRIDE - What is it?

If you don’t know what PRIDE means just ask any child from DPS. They will tell you that PRIDE is our school word, our school values, and our way of life.

PRIDE stands for:
Peaceful
Respect
Independence
Dare to Dream
Excellence in Everything.

These values, attitudes and beliefs are incorporated into every part of our day at DPS.

We have PRIDE expectations each week where the children have a focus, such as being ‘Independent in the Playground’ by placing rubbish in the bins.

Children are rewarded if they meet the expectation, or by showing work/ attitudes/ behaviour that relate to any of the PRIDE words. Classroom teachers have ticket that are worth 1 point each. Relievers and Teacher Aides have tickets that are extra special and are worth 2 points each.

Every Celebration Time we have a weekly draw. Every 10 points you earn gives you a green ticket for the Green Draw where you can win a PRIDE pen or pencil. Every 25 points you earn gives you a gold ticket for the Gold Draw where you can win a special prize if your name is pulled out of the Kahikatea or Kowhai Syndicate bag.

Be sure to earn over 25 points during the term because if you do, you go into the End of Term mega draw. One lucky Kowhai child and one lucky Kahikatea child will walk away with a magnificent prize!

Golden Time
Golden Time is a chance for classrooms to spend 30 minutes doing a fun activity that they don't usually get time for during the ordinary week/ term. Every child who has had a positive week and has made good choices in class that week get to participate. What Golden Time activity would you like to do?
