History

Formed as the result of an Education Network Review in 2003. Two smaller schools merged to form Douglas Park School, which was then established as a new school with fresh curriculum, policies and systems. Teacher Designed School For a period of 3 years from the end of 2005 we worked with Dr John Edwards (Australian researcher) and Bill Martin (leading US principal) to create a Teacher Deigned School. This utilizes the personal practical knowledge of every staff member to create the school of our dreams. Democracy and consultation is a vital plank in the process. We are and will continue to be a TDS. The outcomes are evident in our Shared Vision and everything that derives from that.
This was constructed by staff and is the driving life of DPS. It is both current and aspirational in that we are currently striving to walk the talk and also implement fresh initiatives over time to achieve it. |
